Robert Terry "Bob" Nelson, 51, of Gosnell, Ark., died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005, at Great River Medical Center in Blytheville, Ark.

Born April 24, 1953, in Huffman, Ark., a son of the late Charley and Shirl Terry Nelson, he attended Huffman Church of God. He was a Vietnam War veteran serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. He retired from the Air Force Reserve in 2004. He was a member and former commander of American Legion Post 24 in Blytheville and was state commander of District 5 of American Legion in Northeast Arkansas, vice president of Blytheville Kiwanis Club, a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7057 at Gosnell, the Marine Corps League at Kennett and member of the Masonic Lodge at Blytheville. He attended Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Ark. and the University of South Carolina. He was a student at Arkansas Northeastern College.

He is survived by his wife, Shoko Nelson; one son, Jonathan Nelson and wife, Chris, of Tigard, Ore.; two brothers, Charles "Buddy" Nelson of Paragould, Ark., and Richard Wayne Nelson and wife, Donna, of Romona, Calif.; three sisters, Juanita Wallace and husband, Bob, of White Plains, Md., Patsy Britt of Huffman, Ark. and Peggie Warren of Manila.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Gladys Nelson Peterson.

Funeral Services were 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, at the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel in Blytheville with the Rev. Danny Lacer officiating.

Burial was in Dogwood Cemetery.

The family requests memorials be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
