Mr. Jeffress, a former resident of Bernie, was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bernie, Missouri, a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during WWII, and had been a salesman for the Tayloe Paper Company of Memphis, Tennessee until his retirement.
He was united in marriage to Betty I. Allen in May 1941 at Piggott, Arkansas. Mrs. Jeffress survives at the home in Kennett.
Besides his wife, survivors include two sons, Joel Glenn Jeffress of Bernie and Rex. L. Jeffress II of Kennett; by two daughters, Cheryl Wilcoxson of Kennett and Kim Ott of Flippin Arkansas; by six grandchildren, Shannyn Wilcoxson of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Kim Hollahan of Nashville, Tennessee, Doug Wilcoxson of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Kortney Ott of Panama City, Florida, Jill Jeffress Bristow of Fayetteville, Ark., and Julie Jeffress Cude of Hornersville, Missouri; by two great-granddaughters, Olivia and Elyse Wilcoxson of Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Besides his parent, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Glendale Jeffress and Carlyn Jeffress and by one sister, Betty Winters.
Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathes Funeral Home in Bernie from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 9, 2005. Funeral services will then be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 10, 2005, with the Rev. Scott Andrews officiating. Burial will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.
