John David Faulkner, 87, a native of Bear Creek, Alabama, and a 61-year resident of Kennett, Missouri, died Tuesday, February 1, 2005, at his home.

A memorial service was held Thursday, February 3, 2005, at the First Christian Church in Kennett at 1:30 p.m.

Mr. Faulkner actively participated in the community. He was a member of the local United Way, the Kennett Chamber of Commerce, the American Legion, the V.F.W., the Boy Scouts of America, Lions Club, and a former member of the Jaycees.

He served on the Kennett Public Schools Board of Education from 1971-1990.

He was a veteran of World War II and was an active member in the First Christian Church, serving as an Elder Emeritus.

Mr. Faulkner is survived by his wife, Nancy; his daughter, Flo Colhouer; a son-in-law, James Colhouer, all of Kennett; a grandson, John Parker Colhouer of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; a brother, Brooks Faulkner of Smyrna, Tennessee, and three sisters, Freida Arnold of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Merry Gay Lorberg of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; and Jimmye-Lou Hall of Atherton, California.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Brunner.

The family requests that any memorials be sent to the Kennett Education Foundation, the First Christian Church, or the charity of his or her choice.
