He was a U.S. Marine veteran, having served in the Korean Conflict. He was retired from Rollins, Inc.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah Gilpin of the home; three daughters, Linda Benton and husband, Mark, and Shirley Holmes and husband, Henry, all of Lawrenceville, Ga., and Donna Mehaffey and husband, Mickey, of Grayson, Ga.; one son, Mickey Gilpin and wife, Ginger, of Gainesville, Ga.; one sister, Georgia Sexton, of Conyers, Ga.; one brother, Fred Gilpin, of Houston, Texas and three grandchildren, Brad Benton, Matthew Mehaffey and Sarah Etheridge.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Thursday, Feb. 3, at the Wages Snellville Funeral Home in Snellville, Ga.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4, at the Wages Snellville Chapel with the Rev. Scott Hutchins officiating.
Burial will follow at the Eternal Hills Memory Gardens.
