Geneva Pauline Killian Smith Metts, age 68, of Douglas, Ga., died Thursday, January 20, 2005 at Coffee Regional Medical Center.

Born June 17, 1936, in Poplar Bluff, Mo., daughter of the late Noal and Zada Catherine Marshall Killian, she was employed at Wal-Mart Super Center.

She married Joseph Dow Smith, Sr., of Kennett, Missouri, who preceded her in death in 1991 and formerly to Eston Metts of Pearson, Ga. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Marvin, Irvin and Billy Killiam.

Survivors include five children, Cathy Threatt and husband, Stanley, of Douglas, Ga., Thomas Morehead and wife, Sue, of Phoenix, Ariz., Terry Savanich and wife, Gail, of Cleveland, Ohio, Gregory Hodge of St. Louis, Mo., and David Hodge of Summerville, S.C.; two brothers, Mel and Don Killian, of San Antonio, Texas; two sisters, Leola Mitchell and Nelta Howard; 18 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 23, at the Sims Funeral Home Chapel in Douglas with Brother Marty Wilkes presiding.

Burial was in the Satilla Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Pallbearers were members of Green Acres County Fire Station No. 9, Clarence Wright, Casey Wright, James Graham, Terrance Story, David Hester and John Hersey

Honorary pallbearers were Wal-Mart Super Center associates, Douglas Lions Club and Douglas Enterprise staff.
