James Arthur Correll, 79, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Friday, Jan. 14, 2005, at Blytheville, Ark.

Born Feb. 9, 1925, in Caruthersville, son of the late Arthur Allen and Sara Elizabeth Hayes Correll, he was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during WWII and was employed at Arkansas Power and Light as a line crew foreman. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

On March 7, 1947, in Hayti, Mo., he married Martha Helen Simmons, who survives of the home.

Survivors also include two daughters, Judy Correll Sander and husband, Robert, of Texarkana, Texas and Janet Correll Ellison and husband, Mitchell, of Quincy, Ill.; five grandchildren, Lauren and Kyle Sander, both of Texarkana and Myles, Mason and Merrill Ellison, all of Quincy and one great-grandchild, Ashlyn Sander, of Texarkana.

He was preceded in death by five brothers and five sisters.

Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 16, at the Maple Cemetery in Caruthersville with the Rev. Dr. W. Kirwin Stewart, Jr. officiating.

Pallbearers were Danny Medlin, Mitch and Myles Ellison, Kyle and Robert Sander and Mike McNulty.

H.S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville was in charge of arrangements.
