Ira V. Doherty, 70, of Kennett, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005, at the VA Hospital in Poplar Bluff, Mo.

Born Oct. 3, 1934, in Flint, Mich., son of the late Ira V. and Ethel Mae Rouse Doherty, he was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Korean War.

On April 11, 1956, in Manila, Ark., he married Betty Faye Arnold, who survives of the home.

Survivors also include three sons, Ira Doherty III, of Virginia, Ira Steven Doherty and wife, Carla, of Blytheville, Ark. and Ira Keith Doherty, of Kennett; two daughters, Rita Faye Brown and husband, Steve and Carolyn Kay Doherty, all of Kennett; three brothers, Larry Doherty and wife, Barbara, of Buckeye, Ark., Don Simpkins, of Arkansas and States Skipper, of Springfield, Mo.; one sister, Barbara Morris, of Leachville, Ark.; one grandson, Brandon Ellison, of Kennett and one great-grandchild, Kaleb Dawson Ellison.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Jan. 19, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with Brother Ron Lawson officiating.

Burial was in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Kennett.

Pallbearers were Dennis Tucker, Erwie Holmes, J.C. Counts, Mike Goodman, Steve Prince and Jack Lyles.

Honorary pallbearer was Jerry Edgins.
