J.B. Gibbins, 81, of Kennett, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005, at his residence.
Born Sept. 15, 1923, in England, Ark., son of the late Russell Harp and Lillie Davis Gibbins, he was an elementary principal. He was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church and the Hornersville Masonic Lodge for 50 years.
On May 25, 1978, he married Jerris Grissom, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include one step-son, Rick Harris and wife, Regina, of Pensacola, Fla.; four grandchildren, Mark Gibbins and wife, Kara, of Portageville, Mo., Elmer Lynn West, Jr. and wife, Jenny and Melissa Kohl and husband, Tony, all of Marion, Ark., and Lisa Blanco and husband, Lou, of Orlando, Fla.; a son-in-law, Elmer West, of Arbyrd, Mo.; a daughter-in-law, Shelia Gibbins, of Caruthersville, Mo.; a nephew, Lonnie Grice, of Rives, Mo. and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Kenneth Gibbins; one daughter, Eula Faye West; three sisters and three brothers.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 17, at the McDaniel Funeral Home chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Dale Rickman officiating.
Burial was in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers were Merle Heath, Scott Haywood, Noble Shaver, Jr., Lonnie Grice, Darrell Wheeler and Rick Burdin.
Honorary pallbearers were Brotherhood of Friendship Baptist Church.
