Dr. Pin Hsiu Pu, 80, of Tarpon Springs, Fla., formerly of Kennett, died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2005, at North Austin Medical Center in Austin, Texas.
Born Jan. 23, 1924, in the People's Republic of China, son of the late YianBay and XiuJin Chang Pu, he was a physician. He served from 1966-1988 on the medical staff in Kennett, Hayti, Mo., and Dexter, Mo. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, the American Medical Association, active in the Kiwanis Club and was one of the founders of the Kennett Tennis Association.
On May 25, 1948, he married Elise Yao, who preceded him in death on Sept. 27, 1983. He later married Rose Pu, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include one son, Dr. Steve Mark Pu and wife, Coleen, of Kennett; three daughters, Lillian Moy and husband, Clement, of Cary, N.C., Sheila Weekly and husband, Roger, and Debbie Childers and husband, Denny, all of Austin; one brother, B.S. Pu, of China; one sister, Y.S. Pu, of China; eight grandchildren and one nephew, Joe Pu, of Austin.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Y.S. Pu.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. today, Tuesday, Jan. 18, at the First United Methodist Church in Kennett with the Rev. Paul Lanning officiating.
Burial was in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers were Brett Pu, Alex Moy, Eric Moy, Kevin Weekly, Jonathan Fowler and Joe Pu.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, the First United Methodist Church of Kennett or the Alzheimer's Association.
McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett was in charge of arrangements.
