Rev. Hershel L. Godair, 85, of Portageville, Mo., died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005, at the Portageville Nursing Home.
Born Nov. 21, 1919, in Boekerton, Mo., son of the late Dalton and Maudie Stewart Godair, he was minister. He pastored at the Pentecostal church in Slidell, Ind., the First United Pentecostal Church in Portageville and the First United Pentecostal Church in Malden, Mo.
In 1936, in Portageville, he married Irene Patterson, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include, four sons, Dalton "Eugene" Godair, of Salisbury, N.C., Johnny Godair, of Durham, N.C., Clinton "Buddy" Godair, of Jackson, Mo. and Kenneth Godair, of Burlington, N.C.; two brothers, Harold Godair, of Port Arthur, Texas and Clinton Godair, of Dallas, Texas; three sisters, Reathal Treece and Myrtle Blackwood, both of Bakersfield, Calif., and Ruth Luke, of Kent, Wash.; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10, at the First United Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Vernon Percer officiating.
Burial was in the Portageville Cemetery.
