H. Bernice Clayton, 82, of Malden, Mo., died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005, at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter, Mo.
Born Aug. 10, 1922, at Hoxie, Ark., a daughter of the late John Looney and Rose Belle Allen Owen, she was a homemaker and member of the Church of Christ.
On March 29, 1938, at Blytheville, Ark., she married Talmadge Clayton who preceded her in death Sept. 11, 1991. She was also preceded in death by three sons, Boyce Clayton, Trent Clayton and Larry Clayton; two brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include two daughters, Gayle Jarrell and husband, Jim, and Carolyn Leonard, all of Dexter; two sons, Curtis Clayton and wife, Sharon, of Mission Viejo, Calif. and Randy Clayton of Dexter; seven grandchildren, James Jarrell and Gary Leonard of Dexter, Leslie Stewart of Plano, Texas, Laura Trujillo of St. Louis, Christina Clark of Washington, D.C., Tony Clayton and Scott Clayton of Colorado Springs, Colo.; six great-grandchildren, Josh Jarrell, Andrew, Jarrell, Ryan Stewart, Kelsey Clark, Matthew Clayton and David Clayton; four great-great-grandchildren, Korey Jarrell, Terrell Clayton, Elijah Clayton and David Clayton.
Visitation is 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. today, Sunday, Jan. 9, at Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Malden.
Funeral services are 3:30 p.m. at the Landess Chapel with Dan Hargrave and Joe Mosley officiating.
Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery at Malden.
