Beatrice Matheney, 88, of Kennett, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, at National Health Care in Kennett.

Born Sept. 24, 1916, in Miston, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late Walter and Kathern Hill.

On Nov. 21, 1931, in Miston, she married James Matheney, who preceded her in death on Jan. 7, 1983. She was also preceded in death by one son, Billy Matheney; one daughter in infancy; one brother; three sisters and one great-granddaughter, Sarah Matheney.

Survivors include two sons, Clinton and Rayford Matheney, both of Kennett; three daughters, Joyce Duffey, of Shreveport, La., Judy Lampston, of Kennett and Debra Matheney, of St. Louis, Mo.; one sister, Pearlie Woods, of Memphis, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today, Friday, Jan. 7, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Don Slatton officiating.

Burial was in the Oak Ridge Cemetery at Kennett.

Pallbearers were Carol Moore, Maurice Wallace, Dean Taylor, Bob Sturgeon, Don Sikes and Dennis Mays.
