Opal Overton Ward, 85, of Gibson, Mo., died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005, at St. Joseph Medical Center in St. Charles, Mo.
Born April 16, 1919, in Parkin, Ark., daughter of the late Carter and Daisy Overton, she was worked at St. Francis Nursing Home and was a member of South Canaan General Baptist Church.
She married E.G. Ward, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one son, Robert John Ward and one great-grandson, Brandon Ward.
Survivors include seven sons, Jimmy D. Ward, of St. Louis, Mo., Virl Dail Carter, of Cheyenne, Wy., Larry Carter, of Rawlins, Wy., Carl Ward, of Fairview Heights, Ill., James Curly Ward, of Kennett, Thurmon Dude Ward, of Mammoth Springs, Ark., and Harold Ward, of Glennonville, Mo.; five daughters, Regene Fitzgerald, of Texarkana, Ark., Eva Joyce Muray, of St. Louis, Nyoka Carter, of Cheyenne, Sharon Webb, of St. Charles and Jan Belcher, of Holcomb, Mo.; 41 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 9, at the Mitchell Funeral Home in Rector, Ark.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 10, at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Harold Carter officiating.
Burial will follow at the Mitchell Cemetery in Greenway, Ark.
Pallbearers are David and Jason Belcher, Jeff, Matthew and Michael Paul Ward and Steve Crawford.
Honorary pallbearers are David Ward, Hayden Nichols and Cameron Carter.
