Marie Laverne Johnson, 61, of Gideon, Mo., died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2004, at Gideon Care Center in Gideon.

Born May 14, 1943, in Vardaman, Miss., she was the daughter of the late Ira and Rosie Miles Smith, she was a custodian at Clarkton schools.

On April 21, 1960, at Kennett, she married Joe Earl Johnson, who survives.

Other survivors include four daughters, Rosemary Reed and husband, James, of Gideon, Tina Smith of Holcomb, Angela Johnson of Columbia, Mo. and Katrina Johnson of Gideon; two sons, Billy Johnson of Gideon and Ira Johnson of Columbia; two brothers, Hention Smith of Grenada, Miss, Frank Quention Smith of Tallapoosa, Mo.; one sister, Rosealean Stanford of Elkhart, Ind.; one step-brother, J.W. Collums of Canton, Miss.; one step-sister, Nancy Hallon of Jackson, Miss. and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two infant children; one sister, Jocey Dorris; two brothers, Lindion Smith and Gerald Smith and her step-mother, Wilma Smith.

Visitation is at 6 p.m. today, Wednesday, Dec. 29, at Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Malden.

Funeral services are 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, at Bradshaw Chapel with the Rev. Kelly Reed officiating.

Burial will be in Stanfield Cemetery at Clarkton.
