Roy "Papa" Brewster, 106, of Steele, Mo., died Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004, at his home.
Born May 9, 1898, at Turner, Ark., a son of the late William and Savannah Brewster, he was a sharecropper, head of the sanitation department at Steele, a barber, a minister, and member of the House of Praise New Life Ministry at Blytheville, Ark.
At St. Louis he married Alma McCoy who survives.
Other survivors are a son, Roy Brewster Jr., of Steele; seven daughters, Mable Harris of Chicago, Non Lane and husband, Lommie, of Wyatt, Mo., Christine Coleman of East. St. Louis, Ill., Pearl Boswell of Milwaukee, Wisc, Catherine Brewster, Floncie Brewster and Marilyn Harvey and husband, Richard, all of Steele; three grandchildren raised as daughters, Eddie, Susie and Florencia Brewster; 38 grandchildren and 85 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four daughters, Annie "Liza" White, Mary Lee Williams, Lydia Lee Brewster and Ethelene Smith and one son, Otis MaDonald.
Funeral services were Saturday, Dec. 18, at First Baptist Church Chuch at Steele with Apostle Jerry Perkins and Evangelist Marilyn Harvey.
Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery at Hayti, Mo.
