James "Buddy" Waller, 86, of Hayti, Mo., died Monday, Dec. 13, 2004, in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Born June 7, 1918, in Tennessee, a son of the late Joseph Leland and Sally Pearl Swindle Waller, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, was a maintenance man and attended the Assembly of God Church in Caruthersville, Mo.

He married Fannie Catherine DeFries who preceded him in death Feb. 3, 1974. On April 3, 1996, in Blytheville, Ark., he married Opal Halford Hale who survives.

Other survivors include two daughters, Donna Mack and husband, Duane, of Coloma, Mich. and Tawnia Drumright of Caruthersville; one step-son Conway Hall of Hayti; one step-daughter, Robin Bunch and husband, Will, of Harlem, Ga.; one sister, Beatrice Barnes of Benton Harbor, Mich. and one brother, Noble Clark and wife, Sue, of Caruthersville.

He was preceded in death by one son, James Allen Waller; one brother, J.C. Clark and one sister, Lessie Pearl Melton.

Funeral services were 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, at John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Hayti with the Rev. Bob Titus, assisted by Rev. Kennny Ford officiating.

Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery at Hayti.

Pallbearers were Ron Allred, Dustin Drumright, Chris Hall, Kevin Leamer, Rick Mack and Lance Mansfield.
