Jessie Howington Sutton, 84, died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Born Sept. 22, 1920, in Caruthersville, Mo., daughter of the late James Blaine and Ida King Howington, she was a registered nurse and a surgical nurse and of the Methodist faith.
On Nov. 22, 1972, she married Lloyd K. Sutton, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by two sons, James Brooks Gatewood and Robert Lynn Gatewood; one daughter, Thelma Joyce Gatewood Harrison; three brothers, Ralph, Charles and Bill and one sister, Helen.
Survivors include one son, Michael Blaine Gatewood, of Bishop, Texas; three daughters, Carrol J. Gatewood Schmidt, of Bremerton, Wash., Helen Eileen Gatewood Genna, of Gulfport, Miss. and Jane Lieber, of West Milford, N.J.; one sister, Betty Kitzman, of Santa Maria, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, at the Little Prairie Cemetery in Caruthersville with the Rev. Kenny Lee officiating.
H.S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville was in charge of arrangements.
