Born Dec. 16, 1926, in St. Louis, Mo., son of the late Kenneth K. and Nettie Lee Clark DeWeese, he was a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served in WWII, a retired service representative for Associated Natural Gas, former mayor and city alderman for the city of Hayti. He was a member of the Hayti Rotary Club, and attended the First Presbyterian Church in Caruthersville.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara DeWeese, of Hayti; one grandson, Herbert W. Clark DeWeese, of Brizil, Ind.; three nieces, Susan DeWeese, of Richmond, Va., Betty Mitchell, of St. Charles, Mo. and Sherry Craft, of Waco, Texas and two nephews, Ken DeWeese, of Belton, Texas and John David DeWeese, of Brizil.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Gregory and Michael and five brothers, W.B., Chester, Jesse, John and Kenneth.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. today, Friday, Dec. 3, at the First Presbyterian Church in Caruthersville with the Rev. Kerwin Stewart officiating.
Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery at Hayti.
Pallbearers were Sonny and Patrick Turnage, Bobby Khourie, Ken DeWeese, Thomas Greenwell and Lee Watkins.
Honorary pallbearers were Bill Robertson, Robert Grady, Richard Kohn, Robert Edwards, Vernon Dobbins, J.T. Spicer, Wayne Speight and Jim Young.
John W. German Funeral Home of Hayti was in charge of arrangements.
