Lee left his family's farm in Kennett, Mo., at the age of 19, and joined the U.S. Army, serving in England, France, Germany and other European countries. Lee served primarily, with the 464th Air Service Group, in the U.S. Army Air Corps, where he earned several commendations including Victory in Europe Medal, the European-Middle East Theater Campaign Medal, 4 Overseas Bars, and the Good Conduct Medal. He was also a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
After marrying his war-bride Veronica from Liverpool, England, Lee settled in Flint, Mi., where he was active in the formative years of the United Auto Workers (UAW) and proudly worked for General Motors, for 51 years. Lee represented honor, integrity and loyalty, along with a huge heart, and will be very sadly missed by his family and friends. He was one of a kind.
