Geraldine Ann (Jerri) Scott, 74, of Kennett, Mo., passed away at 6:17 a.m. on November 7, 2004, at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Mo., after a long illness.
Jerri was born July 7, 1930, in Malden, Mo., and was a lifelong resident of Kennett. She was a graduate of Kennett High School and on May 14, 1950, married Dr. John E. Scott. She worked at the Daily Dunklin Democrat and at Kennett Finance until her retirement several years ago. Jerri was a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, John, of Springfield, Mo., formerly of Kennett; two daughters, Carol Scott and Laura Scott, both of Springfield, Mo.; two sisters, Janice Gabriel, of Ottumwa, Iowa and her husband, Gene and Linda Thomas Robinett and her husband, Phil, of Memphis, Tenn., her beloved dog, Daisy; several nieces and a nephew and an abundance of friends.
Jerri was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Mabel Thomas and her grandmother, Hettie Robertson.
Memorial services to celebrate her life are planned for 1 p.m. today, Tuesday, November 9, at the First Baptist Church with Scott Andrews officiating. A reception will follow. A private graveside service was held Tuesday morning at the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kennett. McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett was in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorials to be made to the First Baptist Church, 300 St. Francis, Kennett, Mo., 63857 or the Southwest Missouri Chapter Alzheimer's Association, 1500 S. Glenstone, Springfield, Mo., 65804.
