George Edward "Ed" Tillman, 86, of Hayti, Mo., died Monday, Oct. 25, 2004, at Dyersburg, Tenn.
Born Feb. 22, 1918, in Tomato, Ark., son of the late Edgar Lewis and Leater Lee Sutton Tillman, he owned the Hayti Elevator Company and was an omnibus at the Pemiscot County Nursing Home. He was a member of the Hayti Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Anita June Blackman Tillman; four children, George Edward Tillman, Jr., Ellen Suzanne Carpenter, Robert Stephen Tillman and Marilyn Dianne Maclin; two half-sisters, Mattie and Mildred Gray; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Floyd, John, Robert and James; one half-brother, Lewis; one sister, Mary Elizabeth Tillman Rhodes; two grandsons, Edward Leland Carpenter and Christopher Edward Maclin and one great-granddaughter, Elise Hope Woessner.
Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. today, Thursday, Oct. 28, at the First United Methodist Church in Hayti with the Revs. Brian Carpenter and Sue Cubbage officiating.
Burial was in the Pemiscot Memorial Gardens Cemetery near Caruthersville.
John W. German Funeral Home of Hayti was in charge of arrangements.
