Born Sept. 21, 1921, in Braggadocio, Mo., son of the late Ed and Orean Turner Chilton, he was a U.S. Army veteran and received three Bronze Stars. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion and Ducks Unlimited.
On May 4, 1942, in Arkansas, he married Elizabeth "Tippy" Malin, who preceded him in death in 1996.
Survivors include one daughter, Carolyn Solomon, of Gravois Mills, Mo.; two sons, Eddie Chilton, of Springfield, Mo. and Danny Chilton, of Camdenton, Mo.; three brothers, John Chilton, of Potosi, Mo., Glen Chilton, of Osceola, Ark. and Bill Chilton, of St. Louis, Mo.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 24, at the Little Prairie Cemetery in Caruthersville with the Rev. Kenny Lee officiating.
Pallbearers were Howard Fike, Ted Streete, Terry and Randall Waldrop, Tim Ferrell and Steve Kuykendall.
H.S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville was in charge of arrangements.
