James "Jim" Lamont Bell, 77, of Malden, Mo., died Monday, Oct. 19, 2004, at Beverly Health Care in Malden, Mo.

Born Jan. 20, 1927, in Oak Grove, Ky., he was the son of the late Richard Lamont and Lucille Calvert Bell. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II. He was a member of the Malden American Legion Post 293, Retired Army Reserves, served on the Malden Airport Board and was a chartered life underwriter fro Kansas City Life.

On Feb. 20, 1951, he married Patricia Rudolph in Malden, Mo. She preceded him in death June 18, 1992.

He was also preceded in death by one sister, Willa Hodge.

Survivors include one son, Mark Bell of Lee's Summit, Mo.; one daughter, Janet Pittenger of Kansas City, Mo.; five grandchildren, Meredith Bell, Morgan Bell and Matthew Bell, all of Lee's Summit, Mo.; and a companion, Betty Higgins of Malden, Mo.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today, Wednesday, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden, Mo. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Malden, Mo., with the Rev. Stan Wood officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Malden, Mo.
