Charles J. Leathers, 74, of Salem, Mo., died Friday, Oct. 8, 2004, at Salem Memorial Hospital.
Born Dec. 11, 1929, in Malden, Mo., son of the late Charlie and Minnie Borders Leathers, he was minister, having served as pastor for the Assemblies of God in Qulin, Mo., Campbell, Mo., Bismark, Mo. and Marshall, Mo. He attended Living Water Worship Center located in Rolla, Mo.
On Feb. 4, 1947, in Piggott, Ark., he married Betty Jo Belt, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include one daughter, Janice Mahurin and husband, Randall, of Salem; four sons, Jackie Dale Leathers and wife, Linda, of Iron Mountain, Mo., Rodney Charles Leathers, of Boone, Iowa, Mark Shawn Leathers and wife, Tracy, of Rolla and Timothy Don Leathers and wife, Tami, of Wilton, Iowa; one sister, Imogene Stewart, of Collierville, Tenn., 12 grandchildren, Jackie Leathers, Jr., of Green River, Wyo., Jeffery Leathers, Kristie Crocker and Kimberly Pogue, all of Salem, Jeremy Mahurin, of Dixon, Mo., Jerrod Leathers, of Columbia, Mo., Randon and Angela Leathers, both of Jamestown, Mo., Lorraine and Toni Leathers, both of Rolla and Abbie and Ryan Leathers, both of Wilton and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one grandson, Allen Leathers; three brothers, Russell, Roy and James Leathers and one sister, Myree Snyder.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 11, at the First Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Dale Shoup officiating.
Burial was in the Memorial Park Cemetery at Malden.
Landess Funeral Home of Malden was in charge of arrangements.
