Born April 5, 1924, in Missouri, son the late Haskell and Cora Dement, he was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in WWII and Korea. He served three terms as constable in Coffee County, was a member of the Greenhill Presbyterian Church and the Optimus Club.
Survivors include his wife, Emily Dement, of the home; one son, Gary Dement and wife, Kay, of Elmore, Ala.; one brother, Robert "Bob" Dement, of Malden, Mo.; two sisters, Betty Demay, of Collierville, Tenn. and Violet Moore, of Malden; three grandchildren, Michael, Travis and Nicole Dement and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Clay and Willard Dement and one sister, Naomi Fuller.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10, at the Patterson-Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel in Enterprise with the Rev. Todd Baucum officiating.
Burial with full military honors was in the Enterprise City Cemetery.
