Jack Sawyer, 78, of Kennett, died Friday, Sept. 10, 2004, at the Heritage Nursing Center in Kennett.

Born Jan. 25, 1926, in Caruthersville, Mo., son of the late Gaylon and Cory Mae Tate Sawyer, he was a U.S. Army veteran.

On Jan. 8, 1956, in Hernando, Miss., he married Mary Beaver, who survives of the home.

Survivors also include two sons, Brian Sawyer, of Jonesboro, Ark. and Bob Sawyer and wife, Dee, of Hot Springs, Ark.; one daughter, Jackie Roark, of Montana and five grandchildren.

Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, at the First United Methodist Church in Kennett with the Rev. Gary Mayes officiating.

Memorials may be made to the St. Jude Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105.

McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett was in charge of arrangements.
