Hiram J. Houston, 82, of Senath, Mo., died Thursday, Sept. 9, 2004, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Mo.

Born Nov. 4, 1921, in Senath, a son of the late Ross C. Houston, Sr. and Florence McKinney Houston, he was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.

On Dec. 31, 1944, he married Oneida "Coon" Stoker who preceded him in death August 22, 2002.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Boyd and Audie Houston and a sister, Delpha Houston.

Surviving are one daughter, Janell Mahon of Senath; two brothers, Paul Wayne "Cotton" Houston of Murray, Ky. and Rose C. "Buddy" Houston, Jr., of Eldon, Mo.; one sister, Princess "Sis" Miller of Springfield, Mo.; one granddaughter, Michelle Goodwin of Senath and one great-grandson, Michael Goodwin of Senath.

Funeral services were Saturday, Sept. 11, at the First Baptist Church in Senath with the Rev. Derek Combs officiating.

Burial followed in the LuLu Cemetery near Senath.

McDaniel Funeral Service of Senath was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were David French, Eddie Gallagher, William Glenn Gallagher, Chad Jones, Tomy Lynn Jones, Johnny Stoker, Vernon Stoker and Toby John Stoker.

Honorary pallbearers were members of Senath American Legion Post 303 and his Sunday School class.
