Edith Harkey

Edith Harkey, 87, of Gobler, Missouri., died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2004, at the home of her daughter in Fairview Heights, Illinois.

Mrs. Harkey was born in Leachville, Arkansas. She married Walter Harkey and they spent their lives farming in the Bootheel of Missouri. They had the blessing of celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in 1985. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hornersville, Missouri. She spent the last few years of her life living in Illinois with her daughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Harkey; her parents, Charlie and Georgia Lawler Hill; one brother, Wesley Hill and two sisters, Vernon Roberts and Ethel Wilkinson.

Surviving are two children, one son, Roland Harkey, of Michigan and one daughter, Ruth Leech, of Illinois; one sister, Maggie Hatley, of Sikeston, Missouri; one brother, Delbert Hill, of Clinton, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Steven Harkey, April Mason and Cinda Leech; five great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation: Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Hornersville, Missouri.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Hornersville, Missouri.

Burial will be at the Hornersville Cemetery.
