Jewel Walpole

Jewel Walpole, 89, of Kennett, died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2004, at the Heritage Nursing Center in Kennett.

Born Jan. 22, 1915, in Pocahontas, Ark., daughter of the late James O. and Nettle May Lemmons Sutton, she was a member of the Slicer Street Church of Christ.

On March 29, 1933, she married Clyde L. Walpole, who preceded her in death on May 29, 1998. She was also preceded in death by one son, Ronald Lavaughn Walpole and one grandson, Timothy Walpole.

Survivors include two sons, James A. Walpole, of Defiance, Ohio and Hugh W. Walpole, of Arbyrd, Mo.; one daughter, Donna K. Reed, of Gulfport, Miss.; five brothers, Harry and Waylon Sutton, both of St. Louis, Mo., James O. "Peck" Sutton, of Sherman, Texas, Cloyce Sutton, of Blytheville, Ark. and Vel Sutton, of Bloomington, Ill.; two sisters, Jean Nickelson, of Flint, Mich. and Barbara Sue Hostmeyer, of Florissant, Mo.; six grandchildren, Beth and Michael Walpole, Jenny Rafferty, Cynthia Talalla, Bevin Brewer and Trey Redd and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Friday, Sept. 10, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with Spencer Furby officiating.

Burial was in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Kennett.

Pallbearers were Michael Walpole, Karl Kissner, Eddie Brewer, Trey Redd and Tony Gatewood.
