Born Jan. 17, 1920, in Cape Girardeau, Mo., son of the late John Albert and Maud Louisa Richards Dale, he was a U.S. Navy veteran. While in the Navy he taught electronics at Texas A&M University. He was owner/operator of Dale TV in Caruthersville, a charter member of the Caruthersville Lions Club, member of the Chamber of Commerce, DAEOC organizing Board, Fair Elections Committee, a member of the Sacred Heart Church, the Knights of Columbus and various other activities and church organizations.
On April 24, 1942, in Caruthersville, he married Edith Vivian Cecelia Byrn, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include seven sons, Steve and Mike Dale, both of Caruthersville, Jim and Mark Dale, both of St. Louis, Mo., Bill Dale, of Fort Lupton, Colo., Bob Dale, of Cape Girardeau, and Paul Dale, of Salem, Mo.; one daughter, Mary French, of Oak City, Fla.; two sisters, Bessie Crawford and Carolyn Kirby, both of Cape Girardeau; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by four brothers; one sister and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 26, at the Sacred Heart Church in Caruthersville with Father Scott Sonnenburg officiating.
Burial was in the Maple Cemetery at Caruthersville.
Pallbearers were Tony, Dwayne, Ian, Zack and Devon Dale, Stephanie Trent and John Joe Gregory.
H.S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville was in charge of arrangements.
