Born Dec. 14, 1931, in Holcomb, Mo., son of the late Herschel and Nora Miles Haywood, he was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in the Korean War. He was employed as a supervisor at Emerson Electric Company.
On May 2, 1975, he married Mary Beth Harris, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include three sons, Greg Haywood, of Kennett, Kenny Holmes, of Senath and Jason Holmes, of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; one brother, Perry Allen Haywood, of Cedar Hill, Texas; four sisters, Madge Goans, of Pontiac, Mich., Shirley Bader, of Hillsboro, Mo., Linda Beckwith, of Arnold, Mo. and Vickie Allen, of Campbell, Mo. and five grandchildren, Gregory and Courtney Haywood and Stephanie, Natalie and Benjamin Holmes.
He was preceded in death by one son, Carrol Lynn Haywood; one brother, Jack Haywood and one grandson, Joshua Blake Haywood.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 29, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Lavone Smart officiating.
Burial was in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers were Al Purvis, Larry Masterson, Danny Ford, Barry Palmer, David Harris and Harold Edwards.
