Born Sept. 26, 1916, in Lee County, Va., son of the late Eli and Callie Smith Orick, he was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in WWI and received the Bronze Campaign Star, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with Bronze Star, Combat Infantryman Badge, Good Conduct Ribbon, Purple Heart and Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Ribbon. He was a member of the Tallapoosa Baptist Church, the NRA and the Malden VFW.
On Dec. 8, 1962, he married Mary Lucille Bradford Beegle, who preceded him in death on Dec. 24, 1972. He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Mary and Margaret Orick and Lillie DuBois.
Survivors include one sister, Edna Orick, of Tallapoosa; three nieces and three nephews.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. today, Friday, Aug. 20, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Randy DeProw officiating.
Burial with military rites will follow at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Malden.
