World Finance Corporation office opened in Kennett

Last week Brandon Tinnin opened a new World Finance Corporation office in Kennett. Tinnin is a 2000 graduate of Sikeston High School and is the manager at the Kennett office of World Finance Corp.

The assistant manager is Katrina Rhodes, who is from Arbyrd.

The grand opening and ribbon cutting of the office will be on Thursday, Aug. 19.

"We have 590 offices located across the country," Tinnin said. "We have offices in Missouri, Georgia, Texas, Oklahoma, California, Tennessee, New Mexico, Colorado, South Carolina, Illinois, and Alabama."

Tinnin said the company specializes in making loans to customers with poor credit histories. "Our purpose," he said, "is to provide loans between $150 and $3,000. We want to try to help customers rebuild good credit."

According to Tinnin, World Finance Corporation, headquartered in Greenville, S.C., began in 1962. He said there are offices in Cape Girardeau, Sikeston, Poplar Bluff, Dyersburg, Tenn., and throughout the St. Louis area.

The company not only makes loans, but also sells furniture. Rhodes said, "We sell furniture through a catalog." Tinnin added, "When customers fill out a loan application, they usually receive a catalog with our furniture in it."

Tinnin moves to the Kennett office from the Sikeston office. He started with the company in 2002 and has been working with it for almost two years.

Rhodes said, "We're not your normal loaning company. We're real people that you can talk to and explain how to fix credit problems."
