Thelma Martin, 88, of Kennett, formerly of Bragg City, Mo., died Sunday, Aug. 8, 2004, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Born May 27, 1916, in Henning, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late Elbert C. and Fannie Laura Love Minner.
Some of Mrs. Martin's special interests and priorities were her love of God, family, library work, sewing, gardening and flowers, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Deering, serving as a Sunday school teacher for many years. She had been a Cub Scout Den Mother and was active with the University of Missouri Extension Organizations on the community, county and state levels.
On Sept., 25, 1938, she married J.T. Martin, who survives.
Survivors also include one son, Larry J. Martin, of Jefferson City, Mo.; one brother, Thomas V. Minner, of Austin, Texas; one sister, Nina Maude Moriseau, of Freeburg, Ill.; five grandchildren, Jeffrey Scott Martin, Jennifer Martin Ford, Amy Martin Williams, Sara Beth Martin Richard and Anna Lynn Martin Rolf and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, John T. Martin and two brothers, Lucian and Roy Minner.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Tuesday, Aug. 10, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Sue Cubbage officiating.
Burial will follow at the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kennett.
Pallbearers are Jeffrey Martin, Travis Ford, David Williams, Jonathan Richard, Timothy Webb and Paul Highland.
Honorary pallbearers are Joe Tidwell, John Calhoun, Toby, Vernon and Rev. Louis Minner and Bobby Martin, Jr.
