Leslie Knott

Leslie Walter Knott, 95, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004, at his residence.

Born Dec. 7, 1908, in Caruthersville, son of the late Walter and Sallie Hopgood Knott, he was a farmer, a member of the First Baptist Church of Caruthersville, member of the Farm Bureau and served on the Caruthersville City Council.

On Dec. 4, 1927, he married Myrtle Lea Edney, who preceded him in death on Dec. 8, 1999. He was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include two daughters, Martha Fowlkes, of Caruthersville and Dorothy Cardwell, of Blytheville, Ark.; one son, Leslie W. Knott, Jr., and his wife, Norma Jean, of Caruthersville; nine grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4, at the First Baptist Church in Caruthersville with the Rev. Ira Singleton and Dr. James Adams officiating.

Burial was in the Little Prairie Cemetery at Caruthersville.

Grandsons served as pallbearers.

H.S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville was in charge of arrangements.
