Sam Brown, 76, of Kennett, died Saturday, July 31, 2004, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Born Sept. 4, 1927, in Kennett, he was the son of Zula Brown and the late B.M. Brown.

On July 31, 1981, in Kennett, he married JoAnn Mitchell, who survives.

Survivors also include three sons, Danny Brown and wife, Debra, of Troy, Mo., Gary Brown and wife, Karen, of Kennett and Jeff Brown and wife, Rebecca, of Senath, Mo.; one daughter, Vicki Romhilt and husband, Carl, of Hayti, Mo.; two step-sons, David Lee Mitchell and wife, Gretta, of Kennett and Steven Dale Mitchell and wife, Laura, of Easton, Md.; one step-daughter, Kathy Faught and husband, Mike, of Kennett; his mother, Zula Brown, of Kennett; two sisters, Neola Miller, of Kennett and Dortha Mae Johnson, of Rockford, Ill.; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Derrick; one brother, Charles Lee Brown and a step-great-granddaughter, Rachel Jobeth Faught.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. today, Wednesday, Aug. 4, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Dale Rickman officiating.

Burial was in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
