Jewell Brown, 77, died Wednesday, July 28, 2004, in Phoenix, Ariz.
Born Dec. 23, 1926, in Jessieville, Ark., she was the daughter of the late Thelma Ragsdale Carrico and Waymon Nooner, was a longtime resident of Blytheville, Ark., a retired sales clerk, and a Red Cross volunteer.
She was a member of Beacon Baptist Church, where she served as director of the children's church program as church librarian.
She married Jim Brown on May 24, 1971, in Blytheville, who preceded her in death.
She was also preceded in death by her son Lee Burks; and one grandson, Heath Burks.
She was survived by her father, Gene Carrico of Hot springs, Ark.; two daughters, Diane Burlison and husband, George, of Kennett, and Leona Taylor of Phoenix, Ariz.; one sister, Faye Palsgrove of Hot Springs; one brother, Ralph Long and his wife, Helen, of Arkadelphia, Ark.; nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, July 31, 2004, at 3 p.m. in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel in Blytheville with Revs. Ken Pruitt and Dale Rickman officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, July 30 at the funeral home.
