Hugh "Bubby" Samford, 78, of Holland, Mo., died Thursday, July 22, 2004, at his residence.

Born May 1, 1926, in Pemiscot County, Mo., son of the late Joe Ike and Hazel Edwards Samford, he was a farmer and a member of the Samford Church of Christ.

On March 3, 1990, in Holland, he married Ruby Sandage, who survives.

Survivors also include four daughters, Deborah Gee and husband, Darrell, of Piggott, Ark., Patricia Ridge and husband, Rick, of Gobler, Mo., Lois June Archer and husband, Frank, of Fayetteville, Ark. and Brenda St. John and husband, Rusty, of Sikeston, Mo.; one brother, Joe Samford and wife, Ruth, of Steele, Mo.; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Clistine Channell Samford; one son, Lanny Ross Samford and three sisters, Lucille Grindstaff, Frances Miller and Maxine Henry.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Friday, July 23, at the Bradshaw Powell Funeral Home in Steele.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 24, at the Samford Church of Christ with Tim Howard and Walter Lumpkin officiating.

Burial will follow at the Pemiscot Memorial Gardens in Caruthersville, Mo.
