Sadie Cheattom

Sadie Cheattom, 101, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Wednesday, July 14, 2004.

Born June 30, 1903, in Tupelo, Miss., daughter of the late George W. and Mary Hall Agnew, she was employed as a field hand, a harvester and later as a laborer in factories. She was associated with the Pentecostal Power N.L.D.T. Church.

On Feb. 9, 1967, she married Sam Cheattom, who preceded her in death on June 18, 1978. She was also preceded in death by six brothers, Holden, John, Shelly, Curtis, Sonny and Jessie Agnew and three sisters, Rosie, Clara and Gracie Agnew.

Survivors include one sister, Nannie Agnew Rodgers; 35 nieces and nephews and 122 great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 17, at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Caruthersville with Elder Tommy L. Cobb officiating.

Burial was in the Morgan Ridge Cemetery in Caruthersville.

Pallbearers were John Agnew, Jr., Roosevelt, Richard, Charles, Jimmy and Jackie Agnew.
