Luther Pitts

Luther "Dude" Pitts, 90, of Thayer, Mo., formerly of the Concord Community, died Friday, July 9, 2004 at the Shady Oaks Healthcare Center in Thayer.

Born October 17, 1913 in Pemiscot County, Missouri, he was the son of the late John and Fannie Wheeler Pitts. He was a Baptist, a retired farmer, and had worked Rowland's Gin several years ago.

On October 13, 1934, in Pemiscot County, he married Myrtle Lee Wilkins, who preceded him in death.

Survivors include five children, Arthur Eugene Pitts of Connecticut, Nellie Forester of Alton, Mo., Glenn Pitts of Fresno, Calif., Dola Lantz of Cleveland, Ohio, and Ronnie Pitts of Los Angeles, Calif; one half-brother, Melvin Bush of Portageville, Mo.; 12 grandchildren and one great granddaughter.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 14, at 11 a.m. in the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gene Lancaster officiating.

Burial was at the Dry Bayou Cemetery, north of Hayti, Mo.

Pallbearers were grandsons Brett Lantz, Brad Lantz, Matt Kimes, Ron Hejnal, Mike Dziatlik, and Glenn Eryc Pitts.
