Rachel Rhodes

Rachel L. Rhodes, 86, of Kennett, formerly of Arbyrd, Mo., died Thursday, July 14, 2004, at the Heritage Nursing Center in Kennett.

Born May 29, 1918, in Hornersville, Mo., she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Sariles Hanners.

Survivors include one son, Gary Dale Rhodes of Arbyrd; one daughter, Betty Faye Doherty and husband, Ira V., of Kennett; three grandsons, Ira V. Doherty III, of Poquoson, Va., Steve Doherty and wife, Carla, of Blytheville, Ark., and Keith Doherty, of Kennett; one sister, Nell Sheppard of Jasper, Ala.; two granddaughters, Rita Brown and husband, Steve, of Kennett, and Kay Doherty of Kennett; and one great-grandson, Brandon Ellison.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Frank Hanners, and three sisters, Hazel Guinn, Ruby Whitaker, and Ruth Sheppard.

A private graveside funeral service was held Friday for the family at the Horner Cemetery in Hornersville, Mo. with the Rev. Ron Lawson officiating.
