Wallace J. Battles, 94, of Holcomb, Mo., died Friday, June 25, 2004, at National Health Care in Kennett.
Born Feb. 10, 1910, in Clifton, Tenn., son of the late Jim and Harriett Hill Battles, he served in the Merchant Marines during WWII and was a painter from Painters Union Local No.1595 in Pasadena, Calif. He was of the Baptist faith.
He married Maerene Massey, who survives.
Survivors also include one son, Jim Battles and wife, of Seattle, Wash.; one step-son; five step-daughters; one sister, Estelle Floyd, of Senath, Mo.; two grandsons, of Seattle; three great-granddaughters, of Seattle and one great-great-grandchild, of Seattle.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 27, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Dale Rickman officiating.
Burial was in the McGrew Cemetery at Senath.
