Fred Rufus Hudgens, 66, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Thursday, June 24, 2004, at his residence.
Born in Alabama, son of the late Rufus and Minnie Hulsey Hudgens, he was employed by Nalco Chemical Company and a member of the Kinfolks Ridge Baptist Church.
On March 30, 1966, in Caruthersville, he married Wanda Mills Moore, who survives.
Survivors also include seven sons, Steve Hudgens, of Vidor, Texas, Terry Hudgens, of Carey, Ohio, Dane Barksdale, of Oklahoma, Mel and Phillip Barksdale, both of St. Peters, Mo., Chris Barksdale, of Kennett and Johnny R. Moore, of Sikeston, Mo.; five daughters, Wanda Edwards, of Piketon, Ohio, Lisa Dodd, of St. Peters, Amy Allen, of Woodbury, Tenn. and Jennifer and Regina Coleman, both of Caruthersville; three brothers, J.D. Hudgens, of Caruthersville and Tommy and L.C. Hudgens, both of Texas.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Loy, Joe, Aubrey, Earl and Arvil Hudgens.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 26, at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Caruthersville with the Rev. James Mills officiating.
Burial was in the Oak Ridge Cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers were Johnny Moore, Chris Barksdale, Steven Clark, Michael Coleman, J.D. Hudgens, Jr., Jerry Hudgens and Bobby Coleman.
