Scot E. Akers, 37, of Jonesboro, Ark., formerly of Kennett, died Friday, June 18, 2004, at his residence.
Born in Kennett, son of Nancy Akers and the late Robert D. Akers, he was a police officer with the Jonesboro Police Department and attended the Southwest Church of Christ. He had received a degree as a medical laboratory technologist.
Survivors include his wife, Shelly Akers, of Jonesboro; two daughters, Brooke and Caitlin Akers, both of Jonesboro; mother, Nancy Akers, of Memphis, Tenn.; paternal grandmother, Neldean Akers, of Piggott, Ark.; maternal grandmother, Ora B. Terry, of Kennett and two sisters, Stephanie Lee, of Memphis and Amy Andrews, of Barrie, Ontario, Canada.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 22, at the Emerson Memorial Chapel in Jonesboro with Mike Martin and Jimmy Adcox officiating. A eulogy was given by Sgt. Cooper Taylor of the Jonesboro Police Department.
A committal service was held at 1 p.m. at the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kennett.
Pallbearers were the Jonesboro Police Department Honor Guard.
Honorary pallbearers were the Jonesboro Police Department.
