Lenora Smith, 85, of Dexter, Mo., died Saturday, June 19, 2004, at the Missouri Southern Healthcare Facility in Dexter.
Born July 8, 1918, in Hornersville, Mo., daughter of the late Luther and Bessie Eaker Gooch, she was a member of The Gospel Five and a member of the First General Baptist Church in Dexter. She had worked at the Christian Bookstore and McDonald's Dress Shop before retiring.
On June 12, 1937, she married Carl William Smith, who preceded her in death on April 9, 1982. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Carlene Noyes.
Survivors include one son, Don Smith, of East Prairie, Mo.; one daughter, Norma Beatty, of Sullivan, Mo.; one brother, Lyndahl Gooch, of Flint, Mich.; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today, Tuesday, June 22, at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter with the Rev. Kenneth Biggs officiating.
Burial was in the Taylor Cemetery near Essex, Mo.
