Darrell Dee Yates, 88, of Kennett, died Tuesday, June 8, 2004, at the Heritage Nursing Center in Kennett.
Born Thursday, Dec. 23, 1915, at Harrisburg, Ill., son of the late Jesse and Rhoda Duncan Yates, he was a bricklayer and member of First Assembly of God Church of Kennett. He also attended Faith Christian Center in Kennett.
He was married to Mary Yates, who preceded him in death. On April 16, 1995, in Sebring, Fla., he married Delola Boyt "Gertie" Miller, of Kennett, who survives.
Survivors also include two sons, Jerry Yates and wife, Diane, of Pennsylvania and Hal Gene Yates and wife, Debbie of Toms River, N.J.; an adopted daughter, Shirl Booth and husband, Ron; five step-children, Gary Miller and wife, Sue, Helen Mathes and husband, Allen, Patricia Freeman and husband, Jerry, Brenda Joiner and husband, Bill and James Miller and wife, JoNell; eight grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jason, Jared, Jennifer, Christopher, David, Cody and Katie Yates; five great-grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren and 13 step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Dorene.
Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, at the First Assembly of God Church in Kennett.
The family suggests memorials be made to the First Assembly of God Church.
