Sherman Jesse Barnett, 76, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., died May 24, 2004, at The Manor in Poplar Bluff.

Born April 6, 1928, in Oakley, Ark., a son of the late Charley and Effie Alsup Barnett, he attended school in Arkansas and was a farm worker prior to retirement.

Survivors include four sons, Jim Barnett of Deering, Mo., Buford Barnett of Caruthersville, Mo., Charles Barnett of Hayti, Mo. and Eugene Barnett of North Dakota; one daughter, Phyllis Barnett of Deering; one sister, Retha Barnett of Caruthersville and one brother, Leslie Barnett of Caruthersville.

He was preceded in death by one son, Jerry Barnett and two brothers, Marvin and Melvin Barnett.
