James E. Brown, 88, of Kennett, formerly of Steele, Mo., died Saturday, May 22, 2004, at National Health Care in Kennett.
Born Dec. 27, 1915, in Crockett County, Tenn., he was the son of the late Luther and Mary King Brown.
On Aug. 21, 1937, he married Delia McBride, who preceded him in death on Nov. 20, 1973. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Luther Brown, Jr. and Washington Brown and three sisters, Myrtie Burks Beaver, Iva Brown Burks and Opal Brown Harris.
Survivors include three sons, Vernon Brown and wife, Marla, of Springville, Tenn., Ricky Brown, of Marble Hill, Mo. and Stephen Brown and wife, Rita, of Kennett; three daughters, Myrna Holbrook and husband, Alfred, of Kennett, Sharron McFadden and husband, Alfred, of Charleston, S.C. and Wanda Turner and husband, Allen, of Arbyrd, Mo.; one sister, Dorothy Palmer, of Boneau, S.C.; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 24, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. John Keel officiating.
Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery at Steele.
Pallbearers were Glyn Davis, Jack Callis, Tom Ryan, Charles Clark and Cecil and Donnie Riley.
Honorary pallbearers were Charles Faught, Clifford, Talmadge and Odell Burks, John Lyles, Donald Callis and Roy Burks.
