John Hollaway

John H. "Sonny" Hollaway, 76, of Sikeston, Mo., formerly of Kennett, died Saturday, May 22, 2004, at his residence.

Born Dec. 8, 1927, in Flint, Mich., son of the late Theodore and Mary C. Gargas Hollaway, he was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in WWII and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sikeston.

On January 1, 1950, he married Anna Young Bess, who preceded him in death in 1986. On Oct. 17, 1987, he married Wanda Lemonds Smith, who survives.

Survivors also include two daughters, Jan Farrenburg, of New Madrid, Mo. and Karen Hollaway, of Lawrenceburg, Tenn.; one step-daughter, Sara Smith, of St. Louis, Mo. and one grandson, Christopher Porter, of Sikeston.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Monday, May 24, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Ed Jansson officiating.

Burial was in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Kennett.

Pallbearers were Christopher Porter, Jim Farrenburg, Roland Morgan, Jim Hayes and Joe Morris.

Honorary pallbearers were Raymond Casper, Tite Williams, Jesse Hovis, A.T. Junior McConnell, Harry Gremore and Jim Barber.
