Evelyene Middleton, 77, of Cottonwood Point, Mo., died Thursday, May 20, 2004, at her residence.
Born July 21, 1926, in Lexington, Tenn., daughter of the late Galtey Rhodes and Odie Mae Maness, she was a cook and a member of the Cottonwood Point Baptist Church.
On April 27, 1946, in Corinth, Miss., she married Herman Leedale "Pete" Middleton, who preceded her in death on April 9, 1982.
Survivors include two sons, J.D. Middleton and wife, Jackie, and Jackie Wayne Middleton, all of Caruthersville, Mo.; four daughters, Brenda Brown and husband, A.J., and Linda Middleton, all of Caruthersville, Phyllis Ross, of Sedalia, Mo. and Martha Crowe, of Jack's Creek, Tenn.; one sister, Mag Howard, of Caruthersville; one brother, Paul Smothers, of Georgia; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 22, at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home in Caruthersville with the Rev. Jimmy Johnson officiating.
Burial was in the Chapel Hill Cemetery in Chapel Hill, Tenn.
